I have several subjects that need addressing about West Vincent Township but I don't want to subject you to information overload!

The West Vincent Farmers Market is ON, but not in West Vincent. Does that even make sense?? If you haven't read my last submission about this subject, here it is on my website http://tinyurl.com/westvincentinfos 2 June. I closed that issue telling people to go to the June 3 Special Meeting where the Supervisors would vote on an agreement to lease the Township property to the organization for a total of $1 PER YEAR. The vote passed UNANIMOUSLY, yet there was no zoning change or variance from Upper Uwchlan Township. Those changes would be required before any market could commence. Apparently, on June 11 there was an Upper Uwchlan Board of Supervisors workshop meeting attended by West Vincent Township Attorney Stephen Siana and Township Manager Jim Wendlegass. They requested that Upper Uwchlan change the zoning to “Municipal” (from “Residential”) on the section of the West Vincent Park which is in Upper Uwchlan Township. My understanding is that Upper Uwchlan will take the request under review. Considering how much the West Vincent Supervisors have spoken badly of Upper Uwchlan over the years, the offer to consider changing zoning by the Upper Uwchlan Supervisors is quite cordial.

The Farmer's Market did not open the following day, June 12, as expected. That doesn't mean things aren't still in the works. Anselma Mill, site of the Farmer's Market for 5 years, opened it's property to the Farmers Market on Wednesday, June 19. Woo Hoo! The West Vincent Farmer's Market opened...in West Pikeland. I wonder how much cost in legal bills the West Vincent Taxpayer has absorbed in the attempt to thwart both zoning and resolutions regulating (in both townships) the use of the Township Park? Don't worry about it. That $1 per year lease would probably have covered it in about 5000 years. In the meantime, the kid's sports teams might have to cover the costs.

Finally, Harriet “Frog Crossing Guard” Stone stated at a township meeting on June 10 that she is tired of people being against the Farmer's Market.   (It is at the very beginning of the township video: http://www.westvincenttwp.org/images/all-videos/BOS-video-061013.wmv) I don't think that is the case. Instead, people are cautious as to the WAY it is being done (not covering the township expenses, not legal according to current zoning), not the operation itself. I only hope the the people of West Pikeland are not supporting the Farmers Market operation with THEIR tax dollars.

Best wishes
