Here is an important news release from the French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust:

The Board of Directors of the French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust announces that, effective today, December 12, 2011, its employment relationship with Executive Director Clare Quinn has ended.  The search for a successor has begun.

The Board believes that Ms. Quinn’s actions as a West Vincent Township supervisor in condemning the Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show grounds represent a fundamental conflict with the Trust’s long-standing mission of voluntary land conservation.

In response to the announcement of the condemnation, the Board of the Trust passed a resolution on December 3, 2011 opposing condemnation as a means of land preservation and community access.  We also urged West Vincent supervisors to revisit the use of transfer of development rights (TDRs) and/or other means of assuring land preservation and community access.

The Trust has worked for many years with West Vincent Township on land preservation and trails, and values that relationship.  We stand ready to assist in achieving a reasonable compromise between Township leadership and the Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show Association to preserve this valuable community resource.
