Hi

WVT has now changed the Treasurer's position from part-time to Full time.  A vacant part-time police officer position has just been filled, making the West Vincent PD 5 full time officers and 4 part-time officers. This, in a township in Northern Chester county that is second smallest with a population of approximately 4500 people. Only East Nantmeal is smaller, with no Police Department. While I am neither pro or anti the local police Department, this is something the residents and most importantly, the taxpayers, should know.

The West Vincent Township Administration increased it's budget and General Fund Taxes while EVERY OTHER MUNICIPALITY either holds the line or is cutting. In a downward economy, does any of this make sense? It seems that while government everywhere seems to be tightening its employment belt since 2008 by doing layoffs and pay freezes, West Vincent Township does just the opposite.

To reinforce my point, this just came out out from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:  http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

I quote from the above link:
"Employment in government continued to trend down over the month (-39,000). Federal employment declined by 14,000 in June. Employment in both state government and local government continued to trend down over the month and has been falling since the second half of 2008."

Thank you for the support e-mails. If you really want to make a difference, e-mail your representatives in your local government and tell them how you feel.  These are their official township addresses:

Chairman: Kenneth I. Miller, Jr. kmiller@westvincenttwp.org
Vice-Chairperson: Clare Quinn  cquinn@westvincenttwp.org
Member:  ZoŽ Perkins  zperkins@westvincenttwp.org
(I have to say that I have been advised by readers that mail to all of the above addresses has bounced recently although I know some mail to Clare and ZoŽ has got through)

OR you could call the township building: (610) 458-1601

As usual, if you want to be on or off my list, or have some comments or suggestions, or know someone who would like to be on the list, please let me know.  Feel free to forward this email on to anyone you think might be interested.Especially though, if you don't want to continue to receive my mails, please tell me. I'll take you off the list and confirm that I have done so. Just hit reply to this email or write to chestercountynews@gmail.com

Best wishes
